In this article, meet Georgios Tsotras, a Senior Treasury Officer, working in our global Treasury team.

At Thunes, every individual plays a vital role in moving money across borders and making a real difference. In this edition of our Employee Spotlight series, I’m happy to share a bit about my journey as a Senior Treasury Officer, and how I contribute to Thunes’ revolutionary Smart Superhighway to move money around the world.

Leading with Purpose

I’ve been with Thunes for a year and a half now, and my role focuses on two key areas: I lead the onboarding and training of new team members in the Treasury team, and I make sure the service we deliver is always held to the highest standard.

My path to Thunes has been full of varied and rewarding experiences, starting with an internship at the Bank of Greece before completing my MBA at the University of Athens, followed by analyst and accounting roles at Howden Hellas SA. This all helped me develop a strong foundation in finance and gave me the tools I now use every day.

Making a Difference, One Payment at a Time

One project I’m especially proud of is an initiative we launched that helps international students pay their tuition fees, no matter where they’re from.

It’s a project that really resonates with me. I understand how transformative access to education can be, and being part of something that makes that process easier for people around the world feels incredibly meaningful.

Why I Love Working at Thunes

What I love most about working at Thunes is knowing that our work has a positive impact. Even the smallest improvement we make can have a huge effect on someone’s life.

By expanding the revolutionary Smart Superhighway for international money movement and making cross-border payments easier and more efficient, we’re helping to open up access to finance in every corner of the world. It’s rewarding to know that I’m contributing to something with that kind of scale and purpose.

On the business side of things, it’s been fascinating to see how quickly the world is moving towards digital payments. With that shift comes a lot of pressure, because people expect payments to be fast, reliable, and transparent, no matter where they are.

For those of us working in Treasury, that means managing liquidity with a whole new level of precision. It’s a constant balancing act keeping up with a fast-paced market, navigating ever-changing regulations, and dealing with the ups and downs of foreign exchange. That’s why I’m proud to be part of a team that’s leading the way in this area.

My Advice to Anyone Considering a Career Here

If you’re someone who wants to embrace new experiences and make a difference, I’d say: go for it! Thunes is fast-paced, challenging, and incredibly fulfilling. It’s a place where you can learn a lot from an international group of colleagues, grow quickly, and know that your work matters.

Life Outside of Work

When I’m not working, I enjoy playing basketball with friends. It’s a great way to switch off, stay active, and have fun. That balance helps me return to work feeling refreshed and focused.

As the global economy continues to move towards digital payments, I’m proud to be part of a team that’s pushing boundaries and making waves. At Thunes, I’m helping shape the future of cross-border payments, and I am really looking forward to the journey ahead.
